What changed,
and why.

QB Scorecard is an actively maintained analytics project. This log records meaningful changes to the public product, scoring explanations, data presentation and site structure rather than hiding revisions behind a version number.

Direct quarterback comparisons and Prime mode

QB Scorecard added a dedicated comparison tool for two or more quarterbacks. Career mode uses the All-Time scoring framework, while Prime mode searches for each player’s strongest continuous 3-, 5-, 7- or 10-season run. Shortened seasons are handled with a documented objective rule rather than being silently discarded, and the comparison layout was redesigned so larger groups can be read without horizontal scrolling.

Crawler-visible rankings and profile data

Public ranking pages were moved to server-side data prefetching so the first HTML response contains the actual current, season, all-time and best-season data instead of an empty application shell. Valid player profiles now render their real statistics immediately, while invalid player and unknown-site URLs return proper error responses. This improves accessibility for crawlers, link previews and visitors on slower connections.

Original analysis and clearer editorial context

The Insights section launched with original explainers covering sack yardage, one-game QOPI, cross-era comparison, turnovers and contextual accuracy, peak versus longevity, and the clutch component. The methodology and About pages were expanded at the same time to make the model’s assumptions, historical limitations, source coverage and independence easier to inspect.

Weekly stat clarity and publishing tools

The Current Week board was changed to show official passing yards separately from QOPI’s net-yardage efficiency so sack yardage is not mistaken for a box-score discrepancy. Net Y/G and Net Y/Opp labels were clarified across the historical tables. The private graphic Creator also gained selectable comparison metrics, metric keys and single-game quarterback comparison exports.

Expanded methodology and content-first page structure

The major ranking pages received original explanatory sections describing what each view answers and how its scoring reference differs. Canonical URLs, a public sitemap, robots guidance, an About page and server rendering were added. Manual ad units were removed during AdSense review so publisher content remains the focus while the site is being evaluated.

ONGOING MAINTENANCE

Live data is refreshed; model changes are reviewed.

Current-season updates

Current-season data is refreshed after the main NFL game windows, with a daily catch-up pass to pick up games that were not final when the first scheduled job ran. The public page reports the latest completed week and its most recent refresh time.

Historical corrections

Historical source limitations are documented rather than hidden. If a source discrepancy or coverage problem is found, the underlying record can be corrected and affected rankings recomputed. Material changes to interpretation or methodology are documented here and on the methodology page.

Model changes

QOPI changes are intended to solve general measurement problems such as small samples, era comparison or career longevity. The rankings are not manually reordered to produce a preferred list of quarterbacks. Tests protect the core scoring behavior when the implementation changes.
