HISTORICAL PEAKS

The best quarterback seasons of the Super Bowl era.

Compare qualifying seasons since 1966 on one fixed historical QOPI scale.

CROSS-ERA PEAKS

A different question than the season leaderboard.

The regular Season Rankings page asks how a quarterback performed relative to the other qualified quarterbacks in that same year. Best Seasons asks a harder historical question: how does that season look when every qualifying year is placed on one fixed reference built from the broader Scorecard era?

That fixed reference makes unusually dominant seasons stand out even when they occurred in a strong passing environment, while also preventing a weak league-wide year from automatically producing an all-time score. The comparison still depends on the data available in each era, so historical estimates and coverage limitations are disclosed rather than hidden.

See historical coverage and caveats →
Fixed historical referenceEvery qualifying season is scored against the same long-run baseline instead of being renormalized inside its own year.
Qualification mattersThe default 200-opportunity minimum keeps tiny samples from appearing alongside full-season peaks as equal evidence.
Playoffs are optionalWhere detailed postseason data exists, it can be folded into the season before the historical comparison is made.
